Currently, Genie Safety Hub operates by referral only. Referrals typically come from:
- Queensland Police Service (QPS)
- Hospitals or Maternal & Child Health Services
- DFV support services and caseworkers
- Child Safety Services
- Community organisations or government agencies
We offer:
- Safe, confidential emergency and short-term accommodation
- Fully furnished spaces with secure entry
- Access to trauma-informed staff, meals, and family-friendly setups
Accommodation options suitable for OOHC children and parent-child contact visits
In addition to a safe place to stay, we provide:
- All meals (including dietary needs)
- 24/7 trauma-informed support
- Parenting assistance, case management, and referrals
- Pregnancy and newborn support
- Emotional and psychological support services
- Supervised contact sessions with trained staff, when required by child protection or family court
- Supportive space for parent-child bonding in OOHC situations
We are currently based in Townsville and surrounding regions, with plans to expand to Cairns and other parts of Queensland.
Yes. We offer 24/7 emergency response for approved referring partners. Accommodation and crisis support can be arranged day or night through our team.
Absolutely. Our services are uniquely designed for:
- Pregnant women
- Parents with infants and toddlers
- Those in need of maternal health and early parenting support
Families in OOHC with infants or newborns navigating reunification or court orders
Yes. While our focus is on women and children, we also offer:
- Support for fathers navigating family reunification
- Men’s Behaviour Change Programs

Culturally safe staff and services
Our services are fully funded through referrals from government or community partners. Individuals do not pay out-of-pocket in crisis situations.
