Safe, Supported, and Child-Centered Visits
At Genie Safety Hub, we understand how important it is for children to maintain meaningful relationships with both parents, especially during complex family or court proceedings. Our Supervised Contact Services provide a safe, neutral, and supportive space for children to spend time with parents or other family members, while ensuring their physical and emotional wellbeing is protected.
Who This Service Is For
Supervised contact may be ordered by the Family Court, Department of Child Safety, or community services in situations such as:
- Domestic or family violence
- Substance misuse
- Mental health concerns
- Parental separation with safety risks
- Allegations of abuse or neglect
- Children in out-of-home care or kinship placements
What We Provide
Our experienced and qualified team offers:
- On-site and off-site supervised visits in safe, child-friendly environments
- Neutral drop-off and handover supervision, reducing conflict and stress
- Structured, trauma-informed support during contact
- Written observational notes and reports, available for court or agency use
- Emotional support for the child, ensuring visits are developmentally appropriate
- Cultural safety and inclusive practices for Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander, and multicultural families
Our Locations
Currently available in Townsville and surrounding areas, with plans to expand to Cairns and broader Queensland regions.
We offer contact sessions:
- At designated Genie Safety Hub sites
- In community venues (with prior risk assessment)
- In partnership with Out-of-Home Care providers and case managers
Session Details
- Sessions are booked in 2-hour minimum blocks
- Bookings are available weekdays, weekends, and after-hours by arrangement
- Transport assistance may be available for eligible families
- Risk assessments must be completed before first session
Our Team
Our supervised contact workers are:
- Trained in trauma-informed practice
- Experienced in child development, DFV, and court-mandated contact
- Supported by qualified staff including social workers, midwives, and child health nurses
We prioritise the child’s voice and safety, while maintaining respectful communication with all parties.
How to Book or Refer
Supervised contact is only available via referral from:
- Family Court or Federal Circuit Court
- Child Safety Officers or case managers
- Legal services or family lawyers
- DFV support services or health professionals

Fees and Funding
- Most sessions are funded through referring agencies
- Private family law sessions may incur a fee to be shared or covered by one party
- All costs and schedules are discussed upfront, with a written agreement prior to sessions
